Green Block Twill

Here is the actual weaving of the "pickle" scarf.  So far not too much of a problem with the supplementary ends hanging of the back of the loom.

I like to do my hemstitching on the loom so it is tighter and neater, plus it is easier to count thread groups.

The treadling at first appears quite complicated. As the twill is derived from 2 sets of blocks, block A is 1,2,3,4 (twill) and block B is 5,6,7,8,(twill). So I was easily able to revert to the initial plan using blocks to read my treadling sequence, as seen below.

Each box equals 2 repeats of that block.  All in all I am quite pleased with the results.  This pattern basis can be found in Twills Thrills by Interweave press.

  1. How lovely! Are you going to call it your pickle scarf when you go to sell it?:)

  2. Hmmm, good question, maybe I should go with the Irish Green theme for St. Pat's, might be a better selling ploy! The weaving is actually going a lot better than I anticipated. What kind of weaving do you do Nicole?

  3. I do a little of everything. I have a 32" 4 harness table loom, so I do shawls, scarves, placemats, rag rugs, stuff like that. I also have an inkle loom on which I make dog leashes, belts, etc. And I am not above getting the pot holder loom out, which "technically" belongs to my 10 year old girl.
